Lyle Lovett and his Large Band play to a sold-out crowd Thursday at Rudder Theatre. My wife and I were fortunate to in the crowd to enjoy the concert. We have always been fans of Lyle Lovett, but it is especially wonderful to be in the crowd when he preforms at Texas A & M. The Class of '79 Aggie and music legend held the concert to benefit the Texas A&M Association of Former Students. This always makes for a very personalized show. As season ticket holders to MSC OPAS we were able to buy our tickets before they went on sale to the general public. This allowed us to get great seats, but not as good of seats as Kevin and Betsy Duff. One of the highlights of the show was when Lyle invited Kevin Duff and Ken Appelt up on stage to sing with him in the last number. It turns out that Kevin and Ken used to sing and play with Lyle when they were all students at Texas A&M. It just so happens that I have had the opportunity to play and sing with Kevin Duff, (unfortunately, not with Lyle Lovett). I guess that would be two degrees of separation between Lyle and myself.
It was a great concert and was capped off with Kevin and Ken on stage to end the show.
